I was vindicated on my predictions last year. Patay na ang Pinoy Idol haha. After the start of the much awaited season 8 of American Idol, rumors have been circulating that the Philippine version of the said franchise has already been axed. Thanks to the show’s inability to listen to the clamor of the fans, American Idol franchise has met cease and desist order from Fremantle. We can recall that I have been the number one critic of the show last year and was even attacked online by Jolina’s ignorant fans due to my severe and harsh critical post haha. Yet the show did not listen to all the people and bloggers who are writing negatively about them and their show. Maraming contributing factor why Pinoy Idol suffered an expected fate, from technical, to productions to editing etc. It seems that all of the show’s aspect is a failure, from its contestants to its staff itself.

Obviously the franchise would not really succeed because of its hasty decisions with no preparations at all. They even started the show while the US version is still running. Comparisons would be expected. Plus the fact that the director, hosts, judges and contestants are not marked as something interesting. It was doomed as a failure from the very start of its first episode.

And because of this, there is a possibility that ABS CBN and ABC 5 would compete for the Franchise. IMPO, i think ABC deserve to continue the legacy they have started, after all, they were the pioneer and its less annoying to the ears in hearing the words “Philippine Idol” instead of Pinoy Idol.

Lessons learned: Never put three queers in one show (Gutierrez, Ignacio and Tan) because it will just end up as a variety show instead of a world class reality bit. Here is an article about the axed show, screen capped by one of the idol fanatics:
