This week’s studio recordings took me two days before I finally completed all the downloads in itunes since my connection met a lot of clogging. I don’t know if its my pc or its just that thousands of people are downloading this week’s American Idol songs from itunes. But its worth it. I love soundtracks, let alone the rock ones. This week’s renditions are Amazing. It is as if every week the song and talent keeps getting better and better.

Allison Iraheta’s rendition of an Aerosmith Classic “I Dont Want To Miss A Thing” is very subtle compared to the original and David Cooks’ version last year. The key has been lowered but not too much as she can still belt the song on the C range of the chords. Allison obviously took this song in a different stride to give the listener’s a different flavor this week. She avoided the excessive belting but focused on the melody of the song itself. Allison’s voice is so unique and undeniably stamped by the 16 year old. OMG, I am falling in love with Allison. Marry Me Allison, Marry Me!

In the same vein, Adam Lambert’s rendition of one of my favorite heavy metal classic “Born To Be Wild” popularized by INXS and recently by Hinder last 2007 for NASCAR, got a subtle treatment. Compared to the original heavy metal and fast beat treatment of the two versions I mentioned (listen here for reference), Adam’s take gave the song a glam rock feel. It was a refreshing arrangement but not much to be excited about since the distorted bass of the song is somewhat distracting and overlapping Adam’s voice. Though I give Adam Lambert a 100% grade for song performance, but the arrangement is a little bit mediocre. They could have done better to suit Adam’s Flambouyant Voice.

Anoop Desai’s song “Everything I Do, I do It for you” (Bryan Adams) and Danny Gokey’s “Endless Love” (Lionel Richie) perfectly fits their range, their voice quality and singing style. It’s like the song was just written and recorded recently.

Matt Giraud’s “Have you ever really loved a woman” which is a Brian Adams original is so soothing especially the inclusion of both Piano Rhythm and Guitar Leads which gives a mexicanish-desperadoish soundtrack feel. Fantastic vocals once again for the bluisy man of season 8.

One of the best by far among the 7 songs recorded this week is Kris Allen’s rendition of an Academy Award winning song called “Falling Slowly” used as a soundtrack for the movie August Rush which was immortalized by Glen Hansard. Fantastic arrangement. Nice Solid Vocals and Guitar accompaniment gave justice to the lyrics. Not to mention the woman in the background highlights Kris Allen’s masculine voice the more. This song is one of the powerbreaker this week. I love it.

Lil Round’s song however made it up this week by choosing a song that finally fits her vocals and style. “The Rose” somewhat sounded like a country music because of Lil’s interpretation and thick accent. I recommend this for those who loves to listen with heartbreakers and emo songs.

All in all the songs these week are fantastic. But I am giving an extra thumbs up on Kris Allen’s rendition. Like Simon Cowell said during this week’s elimination night, “It Was Brilliant”. If you have ways to download these songs (which I’m not ganna tell you how, due to copyright policy of my server) download them or just go to itunes and purchase them. These 7 songs are excellent. Very diverse, very unique and tailored for each contestant’s voice.
